She is Ninety and we are back.

There is not much in common between the Queen heading courageously towards a lifetime of a century and an exhausted couple just coming back from a short stay in their Black Forest house. The one smiles a nice but cool birthday smile, having reached the age where others don't want to be filmed any more. There is the well known sunshine on her royal face carefully looked after by some cosmetic aide de camp.  The others left the Black Forest when winter had just come back unexpectedly, covering cherry trees and tulips in blossom with nasty white snow bonnets.  Just before the first of May one seems to have a right to expect a little more than a birthday celebrating country. Namely an orgasmic demonstration of spring with warm spells of sunshine and daffodils exploding with joy. What was waiting for us, Yorkshire under a hopeless layer of snow and somehow stricken by icy winds. Yorkshire, we are disappointed.

It is not the Queen's fault. Being back is a good thing. But having to read that the former Mayor of London is accused of antisemitism, sounds a bit exaggerated. A crucial election, in a week or so, may explain the anger of those who are looking for opportunities to bite the political enemy. Ken Livingstone did certainly not try to make Adolf Hitler somehow acceptable as a historical figure. He was an angry racist and murderer and deserves no excuses. But election campaigns are slippery ground as we know.

And the contrary of it.
On the other hand it must be said, that the snow has melted within hours and the sun has come out again. It is like in real life: there are potholes left and right. Sometimes it is impossible to avoid them. Then, one realizes that there is also the opposite of potholes. One does not always see them but they exist. What is the truth then? Potholes or no potholes? Are the Palestineans always innocent when they get angry and nasty? Is Netanyahu a peaceful democrat? The answer is definitely NO. But as long as there are election campaigns with vested interests behind, there will be no peace and a lot of exaggeration. Let us wait until the elections are over.

Happy Birthday, Your Majesty. Let us enjoy the sunshine and.........the contrary of it.
